Quasi-roast this

On Friday June 16th, 2006; from 8:00 PM until whenever, there will be a gathering upstairs at The Village Idiot (formally Rum Runners) on Clayton Street in Athens, GA and everyone is invited.

This gathering will serve three purposes.

1) For old Athenians to reconnect and enjoy a pleasant night in Athens without running around trying to cram in multiple tailgates, a football game, a gig or a concert.

2) To raise funds for the RCB. There is no cover charge but donations will be welcome and every penny will go to the Roger L. Dancz scholarship fund. (This is not sponsored by the university or any related organization).

3) To have a fantastic send off for Tim "Gunner" Smith, a dear friend, former Redcoat Band Graduate Assistant (and husband of Redcoat alum Leigh Burwell Smith) and recent masters degree recipient in conducting. He will be moving to Vermont in July to begin his new job.

If you are searching for a hotel, there are still a few rooms left at the Game Day Condos and there are a ton available at the downtown Holiday Inn.

I do hope you will consider attending if you can. It will be a fun evening as we pretend to relive our college years, raise some money for a good cause, and honor a friend on whom we soon won't be able to lay eyes as often as we would like. If you haven't had the pleasure of knowing Tim, I still think you would have a wonderful time with old friends.

If you can't attend please help us by forwarding this information to others.
