Updated: Since Seth linked this post (thank you Seth) to Atlanta Metroblogging, I figured I should go back and touch it up a little bit.
This afternoon, I watched a few rehearsal minutes of this show and if you have tickets, I don't think you'll be disappointed. The band is smoking, as you would expect it to be. But the band itself is what surprised me. I assumed (dumb ass) that the performance would be to recorded music. There is some sampling with the band but they are the lead voice and sound amazing.
The sets are interesting. It's not what I expected, but I don't think anyone can really know what to expect out of a show like this. The lighting again, very cool, very hip, and very not "ballet". At least any ballet I've seen and I've been forced to sit through a few.
He puts a new spin on some old material, borrows from his Outkast partner and has some brand new original music as well. Being biased, there's some really great horn parts to look out for.
From what I heard and saw the show is pretty frickin' cool and I do not have a passion or even a desire to watch dance at all. This is not your Mom and Dad's Ballet. This is fresh., fun and different. Come with an open mind and I don't think you'll be disappointed. But a word to the wise, bring good ear plugs. It's very loud. Example: I can feel the kick drum in my office.
